Sofia Caesar is an artist whose practice involves the critique of hegemonic truth-making apparatuses. Caesar’s recent works handle interviews, videos, audio recordings, and other forms of documentation. She is currently investigating the role of narrativity in Western models of knowledge production, focused on the unreliable and unstable aspects of language and voice.

She has shown work and collaborated with a number of institutions such as: La Maudite, Paris, France; SFMOMA, San Francisco, USA; Casamata, Parque Lage, Capacete, Oi Futuro RJ, Galeria A Gentil Carioca, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; CCBNB-BR, Fortaleza, Brazil; Tomie Othake, São Paulo, Brazil, and others. While doing so she has produced performances, installations, texts, and videos. Caesar completed the School of Missing Studies, at the Sandberg Instituut, Amsterdam, in 2015 and is currently a researcher at a.pass, Brussels.
