Mission

RESÒ is the international art residency program for Piedmont. Born in 2010 from collaboration between the leading Piedmontes institutions for contemporary art and education, the platform is supported and promoted by Fondazione per l’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT.

Resò is spelled phonetically from the french word réseau, meaning network, and it focuses on the territory’s resources, cultural as well as social and artistic: a network of support for creative production in and with the region of Piedmont. In fact Resò grows from a collaboration that, for the first time, brings together many of the major contemporary art institutions in Piedmont: Accademia Albertina delle Belle Arti, a.titolo, Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, Città di Torino GAI, Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto, Fondazione Spinola Banna per l’Arte, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, PAV – Parco Arte Vivente, Eco e Narciso with the collaboration of foreign institutions based in Cairo (Egypt), New Delhi (India), Cali (Colombia).

The international network supports the idea of artistic activity understood as social and cultural exchange, in order to transform art spaces into places of encounter and engagement.

Resò is articulated in IN and OUT programs of international residencies to promote overall the mobility of artists.

In the sixth year of its activity Resò broadens the network, welcoming institutions based in Canberra (Australia), Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo (Brazil) and Tel Aviv (Israel).

Each artist is selected by a committee representing the institutions involved. The six/nine weeks-long residency programs are designed by the curators of each institution according to the artists’ researches and interests. They are introduced to the local art scene through a series of meetings, studio visits and talks.

At the end of the program the Resò resident artists are encouraged – but not constrained – to produce artworks that reflect on the current definitions of learning, of knowledge and of community and practice, giving back his/her personal sight on the territory and on the residency they experienced.
