Kirsten Farrell completed her practice-led PhD at the ANU in 2015. Her PhD work The Vivisector Oracle: A Colour System for the Discovery of Truth for Artists and Others in Times of Uncertainty (2013-ongoing) is a fortune-telling colour system informed by the novel The Vivisector by Patrick White, argues for a performative view of colour and meaning. The core question of her multidisciplinary practice is the meaning of art in an uncertain world. She has maintained an active practice since 2000 and has taught at the Centre for Art History and Art Theory at the Australian National University in Canberra since 2011.
