The aesthetical research of the duo Macrì Pittatore affirms the need to put the political dimension of the artistic activity at the place that is due to it within the society, and adopts a critical stance towards the current art system. Because of an open approach to life becomes a more intellectual, utopic condition and, at the same time, a more critical dimension of experience. Artists’ works are conceived as interstitial spaces, relaxing platforms and places, utopias located in a fastforward and saturated society.

Their proposal lives on a thinking aptitude about the responsibility that an artist shares for the social sphere and development. This approach presuppose the idea of art as a symbolic service, a kind of behavioural and psychological one, as a model for a new society. That’s the reason why Macrì Pittatore’s interventions always develop under a well-defined and strictly adopted project, with great willingness, however, to include deviations and side-steps, as well as the unpredictable collateral effect, which might yet be revealing and capable of opening spaces of knowledge and new issues.
